About

This is the most unique hiking experience I have ever had. Your trail is the river and the scenery changes into something new around every turn. If you find yourself having to choose between this and Angels Landing, I would choose The Narrows.

Take the shuttle from the parking lot to the Temple Of Sinawava trail head. Use the restroom since it will be the last opportunity you will have for many hours. The hike can be as long or short as you want, just remember that the distance you spend going in you’ll have to repeat coming out. The crowds later in the day are thick so it might take longer going back than it will going in.

Pro Tip: Start first thing in the morning to beat the crowds.

Itinerary

  • 7:30am Arrive at the park
  • 8:00am Take shuttle to Temple of Sinawava trail head & hike The Narrows
  • 2:00pm Return gear and eat lunch
  • 3:00pm Drive to Bryce Canyon

Tips

  1. Verify weather conditions are safe to hike The Narrows. Zion Outfitter will have weather and safety information posted at gear pickup.
  2. Rent gear for The Narrows the night before at Zion Outfitters next to the park fee collection office and Zion Canyon Brewing Company. I recommend the warm weather package (boots and walking stick) if the temperatures are supposed to get over 75 degrees during the hike. https://www.zionoutfitter.com/narrows-rentals/. I don’t recommend doing this hike without a walking stick and boots. The rocks are very slick.
  3. Bring a day pack with snacks and water. Wrap your phone and wallet in a zip lock bag.
  4. At least make it to Wall Street.
